Philip Holt Gives the 411 on the 407
Startup Tech Community the Topic at Business Leadership Roundtable

This past Thursday, April 24, 2014, Orlando, Inc. hosted its first Business Leadership Roundtable of the year featuring Philip Holt, Co-Founder & CEO of SPLYT. Philip addressed an at capacity lunch audience on the topic of the growing technology and innovation sector in the community and the state of Orlando's startup community.

After providing much evidence and data on other tech and startup communities around the nation and world, Philip addressed the fast growing, but little known, Orlando startup community. Philip reported on many successful startup companies in Orlando, events and entities that support this community, and provided a guideline of what can be possible with the proper support of these startups in our area.

As positives in our community, when it comes to elevating our startup community, Philip reported, as his own assessment, that Orlando is a vibrant and growing startup scene, it is self-organizing and entrepreneur led, has a deep and wide talent pool, has a history of several hundred-million dollar exits, and has strong government support. On the other side of the ledger, liabilities to the Orlando startup community includes few second-time entrepreneurs, very little recycled capital, limited early stage venture capital, and very little community awareness.

As one attendee said, "I am relatively new to the Orlando Chamber of Commerce, but I have been attending as many events as I can over the past several months and this one is at the top. Philip Holt did a wonderful job with his presentation and discussing the challenges and successes of the Orlando area with regards to growing through start-up technology and becoming a world leader in this space. The discussion was captivating and I thought we had a great crowd at the event. I just wanted to let you know how special this one was today." James Macchiarola, AgileThought

Orlando, Inc. will host the next Business Leadership Roundtable on Tuesday, June 24, 2014, and will feature Joie Chitwood, III, of Daytona International Speedway. The Business Leadership Roundtable is open for Executive Connection members of Orlando, Inc.
