Denim Day 2016

Wednesday, April 27th

What is Denim Day?

Denim Day is an international protest responding to the Italian Supreme Court's overruling of a rape conviction in 1999. Although the assailant had been found guilty at the trial, the Supreme Court argued that because jeans are difficult to remove, the assailant couldn't have done so without the help of the victim.

To honor Denim Day and victims of sexual violence, wear jeans to work or school to promote discussion of the misconceptions that surround sexual violence. We encourage organizations and businesses in Central Florida to collect donations from staff who participate to benefit the victims we serve. Please visit www.VictimServiceCenter.org to make your donation.

If you and your organization would like to participate in Denim Day, simply email us with the number of participants and we will mail you Denim Day decals to wear on April 27th to show your support. Be sure to take a group photo of participating employees! Email us your pictures and share them on your social media outlets using the hashtag #DenimDay2016.

Thank you for supporting victims of crime in our community!
